Mildred Donkor, the third accused in the GH¢49 million National Security trial involving former National Signals Bureau Director-General Kwabena Adu Boahene, has been directed to conduct her own cross-examination if she fails to secure legal representation by Tuesday.

Donkor recently parted ways with her lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, a former Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South. According to reports, Donkor stated in open court that she wished to engage a separate lawyer, prompting Atta Akyea’s departure.

Background of the Case

Kwabena Adu Boahene, his wife Angela Adjei$Boateng, and another company, Advantage Solutions Limited, have been charged with various offenses, including stealing, defrauding by false pretenses, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit a crime. The charges relate to the alleged diversion of state funds amounting to GH¢49 million.

In a recent development, the Attorney-General’s office has directed Mildred Donkor to represent herself in court if she fails to secure new legal representation by the specified deadline. This decision comes after Donkor opted to part ways with Samuel Atta Akyea, citing her desire for a separate lawyer.

The case has garnered significant attention, and the court’s proceedings are expected to continue with Donkor’s new representation status. The outcome of the trial will depend on the court’s assessment of the evidence presented and the defendants’ ability to defend themselves against the charges.
