A recent survey conducted by Global Info Analytics, headed by Mussa Dankwah, has shed light on the perceived reasons behind the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 elections. According to the research, titled “Responsibility for NPP Defeat in the 2024 Elections-By Responses,” the majority of respondents hold former President Nana Akufo-Addo accountable for the party’s loss.
Top Individuals Blamed for NPP Defeat:
– Nana Akufo-Addo: 68% of respondents blame the former President for the NPP’s defeat, suggesting widespread discontent with his leadership and policies.
– Ken-Ofori Atta: 40% of respondents hold the Finance Minister responsible, potentially due to economic challenges faced during his tenure.
– Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia: 37% of respondents blame the Vice President, indicating some dissatisfaction with his role in the government.
Other notable individuals blamed for the defeat include:
– Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh: 33% of respondents hold the Energy Minister accountable.
– Government Appointees: 32% of respondents blame government appointees, suggesting discontent with the party’s governance.
– Members of Parliament: 26% of respondents hold NPP MPs responsible.
– Kennedy Agyapong: 9% of respondents blame the outspoken MP.
In response to the election defeat, the NPP has established a 12-member committee, chaired by Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, to investigate the causes of the loss and propose solutions to prevent similar outcomes in the future. The committee has presented its findings to the party leadership, but the report’s contents remain confidential for now.
