The Volta Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPD) has apprehended four individuals suspected of murdering a mobile money vendor in Aflao. The suspects, identified as Michael Sewornu (34), Korku Agboada (43), Atu Agbagla (36), and Utsuku Onyeso (22), a Nigerian national, were arrested on May 10, 2025.
According to the police report, the suspects allegedly shot and killed Christopher Ahordo, a mobile money vendor, on April 28, 2025, at Gbagblakope, near the Diamond Cement factory in Aflao. The victim was attacked by five unidentified robbers who stole his bag, believed to contain money.
The arrests were made possible through a joint intelligence-led operation involving the Police SWAT Unit, Operation Motherland Taskforce, and ‘ACTION NOW’, a Community Watch Committee in Aflao.
The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
The police have appealed to the public to remain security-conscious and collaborate with them by providing credible and timely information about criminals.
