Another Delta Force attack takes Kumasi by storm - Ghanacrimereport

Another Delta Force attack takes Kumasi by storm

For nearly four years now, members of Delta Force, believed to be a pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante group, have repeated a similar attack on the Ashanti Regional Security Co-ordinator, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwaku Ayensu Opare Addo (rtd).
Last Tuesday evening, they pounced him and forced him out of his office.
Sharing his ordeal to the press, Opare Addo , 74, said “they forced me out and handcuffed me”.
He recalled that he was in his office when a group of violent youth forcibly entered and began to maltreating him.

“They told me they had been sent from the national security office and that I was wanted at the national headquarters. I didn’t understand so I asked them to explain why that invitation. These young guys pushed me out of my office, brought out a handcuff to grasp my hands after giving me some touches”, the old man sadly shared his ordeal.
As of the time of filing this report, some members of the group had been arrested for the attack on the Ashanti regional security co-ordinator from office.
Ghanacrimereport.com, gathered that one Mohammed Seidu allegedly led the group to invade the office of the security co-ordinator in the effort to remove him from his office, an action widely described  as illegal operation and threat to security, since this is not the first time.
However, the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah who had picked intelligence on the plans of the group made security arrangements to thwart their actions by informing the police.

Currently, all the suspects are in the custody of the Ashanti Regional Police Command assisting in investigations.
Some investigation conducted by the ghanacrimereport.com shows that  some of the members of the group used to work at the office of the security co-ordinator in Kumasi but due to some defiant behaviour, the co-ordinator chose not to work with them again. This in turn stirred bitterness in their hearts, leading to the attack to take his life.
BackgroundIt could be be recalled that, on March 24, 2017, the same delta force forcibly booted the then regional security co-ordinator, George Adjei from his office in a Rambo style.
The group which demanded his immediate removal from office, destroyed property and force Adjei out of office, he nearly lost his life in the hands of that angry group.
One Kwadwo Bamba was said to have led that angry group for the attack and it took the intervention of personnel of the Ghana Police Service from the Ashanti Regional Command to save the life of Adjei.
Police later investigated the matter and arrested them when some absconded from police custody remaining 3 of them and they were subsequently arraigned before the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Circuit Court.
The court then presided by Mary Nsenkyire held that all the 13 accused be remanded in prison custody to reappear before the court on April 20, 2017.
Immediately the judge made the pronouncement of the supporters of the Delta Force who were outside courtroom, from nowhere forced themselves into the court, started shouting “no no no”, destroyed the court’s notice board, ran to pounce on the judge and prevented serene court proceedings.
It took the swift intervention of the police to protect the judge from been victimised in the hands of the angry group.

This gave way for all the 13 accused persons to escape from court to the surprise of many Ghanaians.
