Ahafo Regional Minister visits disaster victims at Ahafo Hwidiem

The Ahafo Regional Minister, George Boakye has paid a visit to disaster victims at St. Elizabeth Hospital at Ahafo Hwidiem in the Ahafo Region, wishing them speedy recovery from the thunderstorm that hit the people of Amanfrom last Friday.
He also visited families of the deceased members as well at Amanfrom in the Asutifi South District.
It could be recalled that last Friday morning thunderstorm struck at the people of Amanfrom near Hwediem, which killed seven and left others seriously injured.
The storm destroyed electric poles leaving live wires dangerous to life and property, with the lost items estimate to run into thousands of Ghana Cedis.
About 12 got electrocuted who were rushed to the hospital and while seven of them were pronounced dead on arrival, the five others were admitted to the St. Elizabeth Hospital at Hwidiem, responding to treatment.
The Minister commiserating with the affected families assured them of government’s support.

He further assured that his office will specifically put mechanisms in place in order to support the education of children of the deceased.

The Minister was accompanied by the District Chief Executive for the Asutifi South, Robert Dwomoh Mensah, and a teams from the Regional and District Offices of the National Disaster and Management Organisation (NADMO).
