Saturday, 8 November 2025 – Berekum – The Bono Regional Police Command has taken a 43‑year‑old man into custody following a fatal stabbing in the Awerempe suburb of Berekum West Municipality.
At about 10:30 am on Thursday, 7 November, a dispute broke out between Yaw Owusu @ Angolo and his younger brother, Bright Abotsi, 25. According to the complainant, Nyanta Comfort, 40, the argument escalated and Owusu allegedly stabbed Abotsi in the chest with a knife. The victim was rushed to Holy Family Hospital in Berekum, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers responded to the scene and apprehended Owusu as he attempted to flee. Officers later confirmed that the deceased was found on a stretcher at the hospital, wearing blood‑soaked coloured boxer shorts and bearing a deep cut to the upper right chest. The body has been moved to the hospital morgue pending an autopsy and further investigation.
Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer for the Bono Regional Police Command, said the suspect is now in police custody and that preparations are underway to bring him before the courts.
The incident remains under investigation, and authorities have urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
