A nine-year-old boy hanged himself to death last Friday at around 2pm at Afful Nkwanta in the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly of the Ashanti Region.
He was in primary three and was a product of New Age International School at Atonsu Dompoase in the Asokwa Municipality.
His remains have been sent to the morgue of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for autopsy.
Grandmother of the deceased, Ante Magi, who narrated the incident to ghanacrimereport.com siad the deceased was fond of watching television programmes at home.
She said the deceased used to watch a popular tv programme home called: “Liticia Pinamang” and he usually wants to act like the character on the screen
The grandma also said he used to practise anything he set his eyes on and that when she returned home, the deceased had acted like someone in the movie he was watching who hanged himself in his grandmother’s room.
“He used to practise what he sees from that Liticia Pinamang tv programme and that he one time took rope and nearly hanged himself had it not been the intervention of my neighbours”, the grandma revealed.
Chief Inspector Godwin Owusu, of Oforikrom Police confirmed the incident, saying the autopsy would be done soon.
He used the opportunity to advise parents and guardians to take good care of their wards at home.
