The Criminal Division of the High Court in Ghana has granted bail to 10 individuals, including former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, who are standing trial on charges of conspiracy to commit extortion, extortion, and money laundering.
The accused persons were present in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecution did not oppose the bail application but urged the court to impose strict conditions to ensure the accused persons do not leave the jurisdiction without lawful authorization.
Bail Conditions
The court has imposed the following bail conditions:
– Bail Sum: GHS 2 million each
– Sureties: Two sureties, to be justified
– Public Officer: One surety must be a public officer
– Landed Property: Must provide landed property in Accra
– Reporting: Report to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) every fortnight
– Additional Conditions: For some accused, one surety must submit a valid ID card to the Court Registry, while others must deposit their passport at the Court Registry.
The case has been adjourned to August 26, 2025, for continuation. The accused persons are expected to meet the bail conditions to secure their release.
