Ken Ofori-Atta arrested at Westlight building near the White House In Washington DC

Ken Ofori-Atta, Ghana’s former Finance Minister, was arrested in Washington, D.C., by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. He was living in the Westlight building, a secure and affluent neighborhood near the White House, with his wife and son.
Ofori-Atta, 66, left Ghana on January 4, 2025, amid allegations of financial misconduct. He’s scheduled to appear in court on January 20, 2026, in the United States.
Interestingly, former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris previously resided in the same building, selling her condo for $1.85 million in April 2021.
Ofori-Atta’s arrest follows his designation as a fugitive by Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in February 2025, related to investigations into financial irregularities during his tenure as Finance Minister.
