In a significant move aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability, the Keta Municipal Assembly has issued a directive to immediately halt the sale, lease, and development of all reclaimed lands within the Keta Municipality. This decision, effective immediately, will remain in place until the completion of a forthcoming investigation into the matter.
The directive, signed by Hon. Wisdom B. Seade, the Municipal Chief Executive, was issued on April 22nd, 2025, in response to a letter from the Hon. Regional Minister dated April 14th, 2025. The letter directed a halt to all activities related to reclaimed lands in the area.
Individuals or groups with interests in the reclaimed lands are required to submit copies of specific land documents to the office of the Municipal Coordinating Director of the Assembly. These documents include permits, architectural and structural designs, and all valid land documents. The submission period is from Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025, to Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, to facilitate the Committee’s investigative work and timely submission of its report.
The Keta Municipal Assembly has distributed this directive to various stakeholders, including traditional leaders, assembly members, the police commander, and all media houses in Keta. The Assembly counts on the cooperation of all parties involved in this matter.
This development is expected to have significant implications for land ownership and development in the Keta Municipality, and further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses. Alexander Afriyie
