Nana Agradaa’s Lawyers File Appeal Against 15-Year Jail Sentence

Accra, Ghana – July 7, 2025 – Lawyers for popular Ghanaian evangelist Nana Agradaa have filed an appeal against her 15-year prison sentence handed down by the Circuit Court. Agradaa was convicted on July 3 by Justice Evelyn Asamoah on charges of defrauding by false pretense and charlatanic advertisement.

Lead counsel Richard Asare Baffour stated that the High Court has been petitioned to overturn both the conviction and sentence. “We filed the petition of appeal this morning on the grounds that the judgment delivered by the court is so unreasonable and that the evidence on record does not support it,” Baffour said. He added that the trial was flawed in law and that the judge demonstrated manifest bias by harassing and intimidating Agradaa.

Baffour also revealed plans to file a bail application in the coming days to secure Agradaa’s temporary release as the appeal process unfolds. The legal team maintains that Agradaa was denied a fair trial and hopes the appeal will either overturn or reduce her sentence ¹ ².

The 15-year sentence has sparked debate, with some praising the court’s decision as a crackdown on fraud, while others argue that Agradaa is being unfairly punished for her public persona. The appeal process is expected to determine the outcome of Agradaa’s case.
