Pastor Arrested and Charged for Prophecy About Shatta Wale’s Assassination

A 46-year-old self-proclaimed prophet, Reverend Daniel Yaw Donkoh, has been arrested and charged with publication of false news after allegedly prophesying the assassination of Ghanaian dancehall icon Shatta Wale. Donkoh, who posted the video on TikTok, claimed to have received a divine revelation foretelling an assassination attempt on the musician’s life.

According to the police, the pastor’s video sparked panic among fans and caused distress to Shatta Wale and his management team. The musician himself publicly demanded swift action from the Ghana Police Service, warning of potential consequences if Donkoh wasn’t held accountable.

Key Details:
– Charge: Publication of false news, contrary to Section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29)
– Bail: Donkoh was granted bail in the sum of GH¢20,000 with three sureties, one to be justified
– Conditions: He is required to report to the police every two weeks
– Next Hearing: August 27, 2025, for Case Management Conference

Background:
The controversy began when Donkoh posted a video on TikTok claiming he had received two prophetic visions involving assassination attempts on Shatta Wale’s life. In the first vision, the musician narrowly escaped a violent attack, while in the second, the attackers allegedly succeeded in killing him. Donkoh urged Shatta Wale to embark on fasting and prayer to avert the impending danger.

Shatta Wale’s Reaction:
Shatta Wale responded strongly to the prophecy, criticizing Donkoh for fearmongering and manipulating public sentiment for attention. He also condemned the commercialization of religion, accusing pastors of seeking clout and financial gain at the expense of spiritual integrity.
