Politicization of every issue in Ghana

#The debate over the potential removal of the Chief Justice has exposed a stark divide between the opposition National Patriotic Party (NPP) and the NDC government. While NPP members and supporters seem to be rallying against the Chief Justice’s removal, government supporters are backing the move. This partisanship raises a crucial question: why should the fate of the Chief Justice be tied to party affiliations?
By allowing party politics to dictate the Chief Justice’s tenure, Ghana risks setting a perilous precedent. The politicization of key institutions can erode public trust and undermine the rule of law. It’s essential to prioritize the integrity and independence of the judiciary, rather than allowing party interests to dictate the outcome.
Ghana’s democracy is built on the principles of checks and balances, and the judiciary plays a vital role in ensuring the constitution is upheld. By keeping the judiciary independent and impartial, Ghana can ensure that justice is served without fear or favor. Let’s work towards depoliticizing key institutions and promoting a culture of meritocracy and accountability. Alexander Afriyie
