Gyamfi, who serves as a key figure in the development of Ghana, expressed regret for his actions, which he described as an “unfortunate act of indiscretion.”
According to Gyamfi, the controversy began when he performed a kind gesture for a fellow human being, which was later made public. He claimed that he had intended the act to be private and never imagined it would become public knowledge.
“I sincerely thought that I was doing this act of kindness in private, and never imagined that same could find its way into the public space,” Gyamfi wrote. “That is unfortunate and regrettable.”
Gyamfi acknowledged that his actions had caused hurt and offense to some individuals, particularly those who are close to him. He extended his apologies to those affected, stating, “I AM SINCERELY SORRY for this unfortunate act of indiscretion. I respect and appreciate your views.”
Despite the backlash, Gyamfi remains committed to his role in serving the Ghanaian people. “Let me state however, that my view of public office as a privilege to serve society, solve problems and help others, has not changed,” he emphasized.
Gyamfi concluded his statement by expressing gratitude to those who have reached out to counsel and encourage him. He also wished the public a “blissful Sunday” and extended Happy Mother’s Day greetings to all mothers.
The incident has sparked a heated debate in Ghana, with many calling for greater accountability from public officials. Gyamfi’s apology has been met with mixed reactions, with some accepting his apology and others demanding further action.
As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is clear: Sammy Gyamfi’s apology has brought attention to the importance of transparency and accountability in public office. Alexander Afriyie
