The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, has filed a defamation lawsuit against popular media personality Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, also known as Afia Schwarzenegger, demanding GH¢10 million in damages. The lawsuit, filed at the Accra High Court, stems from allegations made by Afia Schwarzenegger on her TikTok account, where she accused Gyamfi of extramarital affairs and lavish spending on female students at the University of Ghana.
Allegations and Reliefs Sought
According to the court documents, Afia Schwarzenegger claimed Gyamfi was buying cars for girls at the University of Ghana and that his wife’s sister had purchased a house in the United States. Gyamfi denies these allegations, describing them as “false, malicious, and calculated to tarnish his hard-earned reputation.” He is seeking:
– General Damages: For defamation of character
– Exemplary Damages: GH¢10 million
– Perpetual Injunction: Restraining Afia Schwarzenegger from making further defamatory remarks
– Public Retraction and Apology: To be published on the front and back pages of The Daily Graphic for three consecutive editions and shared on TikTok and other platforms where the original allegations were made
Gyamfi’s lawyers argue that the statements were made with reckless disregard for the truth and were intended to damage his public image. As of now, Afia Schwarzenegger has not responded publicly to the lawsuit.
