The Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to social media personalities Daniel Adomako, popularly known as Sir Obama Pokuase, and Fanti Comedy. According to their lawyer, Enoch Anhwere Afoakwah, despite being granted bail, his clients will spend the night in police custody.
Bail Conditions
– Sir Obama Pokuase’s bail is set at GH₵50,000 with three sureties.
– Fanti Comedy’s bail is set at GH₵100,000 with three sureties.
Background of Arrest
The Ghana Police Service arrested Sir Obama Pokuase and Fanti Comedy as part of ongoing intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling networks involved in the illegal possession and display of sophisticated weapons. Sir Obama Pokuase is assisting investigations into images and videos he allegedly circulated on social media showing individuals openly brandishing illegally acquired firearms.
The police have also confirmed that the operations have led to the significant retrieval of a substantial number of illegal arms and ammunition. The suspects were arrested alongside two others, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, who are being investigated for alleged death threats and publication of false news related to a recent helicopter crash
