Accra, Ghana – Speciallady Awareness recently conducted a successful series of outreach programs in senior high schools across the Ashanti Region, empowering over 4,000 female students with vital knowledge on menstrual hygiene and reproductive health.
Held from September 24-27, 2024, the initiative aimed to break down barriers surrounding menstruation and reproductive health, providing comprehensive education and resources to female students. The organization visited six schools, including St. Louis Senior High School, JA Kuffour SHS, and Kumasi Wesley Girls High School.
Through interactive sessions and donations of sanitary pads, Speciallady Awareness enabled female students to manage their menstrual health confidently, without interruption to their education. The outreach addressed critical topics, including:
1. Menstrual health and disorders (endometriosis, uterine abnormalities)
2. Reproductive health rights
3. Early symptoms of reproductive disorders
4. Importance of seeking medical attention
By delivering age-appropriate information in a supportive environment, Speciallady Awareness encouraged open discussions, dispelling myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation. Students learned to recognize unusual symptoms, such as chronic pelvic pain or irregular periods, and the importance of early medical intervention.
The program received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students and staff, praising the depth of information and judgment-free atmosphere created by the Speciallady Awareness team.
Speciallady Awareness plans to expand its outreach to other regions of Ghana, ensuring more girls have access to reproductive health education and resources.
