Kumasi, the Garden City, has long been plagued by flooding issues, particularly in areas prone to overflow. However, recent efforts have led to significant improvements in many of these flood-prone zones. Let’s take a closer look at the areas that have been sorted and those that still require attention.
Areas That Have Been Sorted
Several areas in Kumasi have benefited from infrastructure development and flood mitigation measures. Some of the areas that have been sorted include:
– Atafoa Owabi bridge: This bridge has been upgraded to improve drainage and reduce flooding.
– High School junction Atonsu: The infrastructure in this area has been enhanced to prevent flooding.
– Odeneho Kwadaso (Dr. Anane bridge): This bridge has been improved to mitigate flood risks.
– Adiembra Vibration bridge: The bridge has been upgraded to reduce flooding in the area.
– TUC junction bridge: The infrastructure in this area has been improved to prevent flooding.
– Parks & Gardens bridge: This bridge has been upgraded to reduce flood risks.
– Friends Gardens bridge: The bridge has been improved to mitigate flooding.
– Atwima Boko bridge: This bridge has been upgraded to reduce flooding in the area.
– Bantama Housing: The area has benefited from infrastructure development to prevent flooding.
– Apire bridge: The bridge has been improved to mitigate flood risks.
– *Sokoban/Ampame bridge*: This bridge has been upgraded to reduce flooding.
– Buokrom CCC bridge: The infrastructure in this area has been enhanced to prevent flooding.
– Aduamoa/Aduman bridge: The bridge has been improved to reduce flood risks.
– Adoato/Adumanu bridge: This bridge has been upgraded to mitigate flooding.
– Esreso Oda bridge: The infrastructure in this area has been improved to prevent flooding.
– Ahodwo Gracefields Church: The area has benefited from flood mitigation measures.
Areas That Require Attention
While significant progress has been made, some areas still require attention to prevent flooding. These areas include:
– Aboabo traffic/Asawase bridge: This area still experiences flooding issues and requires infrastructure development.
– Adum Boss FM drains: The drainage system in this area needs improvement to prevent flooding.
– WAEC bridge: This area still experiences flooding issues and requires infrastructure development.
– Airport bridge: The bridge needs improvement to mitigate flood risks.
– Santasi roundabout Pentecost: This area still experiences flooding issues and requires infrastructure development.
Kumasi’s transformation is underway, with many flood-prone areas benefiting from infrastructure development and flood mitigation measures. While progress has been made, there is still work to be done to ensure that all areas are protected from flooding.
