Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, was taken into custody by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) following a court-issued warrant. The circumstances surrounding his arrest have sparked discussions about due process and the rule of law.
According to reports, EOCO’s actions were based on a legitimate warrant, which led to Wontumi’s detention. His lawyer, Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, has acknowledged the legitimacy of the warrant and the detention.
Wontumi was granted bail set at GHC 50 million. The bail conditions and the ongoing proceedings have raised questions about the legal process and how it applies to all individuals involved.
The case is ongoing, and more information will be shared as it becomes available.
