The numbers tell a stark story. In 2016, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) held 11 parliamentary seats in the Bono Region. By 2020, that number had dropped to 6. And in 2024, the party was left with just 1 seat.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has seen a significant rise in its fortunes. From 1 seat in 2016, the party gained 5 seats to hold 6 in 2020. And in 2024, it surged to 11 seats, leaving the NPP in the dust.
The question on everyone’s mind is: what’s going wrong with the NPP in the Bono Region? Is it the leadership of Regional Chairman Abronye? The numbers suggest that something needs to change.
The Numbers:
NPP: 11 (2016) → 6 (2020) → 1 (2024)
NDC: 1 (2016) → 6 (2020) → 11 (2024)
The math is clear: the NPP’s popularity in the Bono Region is in decline. Can the party turn things around?
