Ghanaian Man Arrested for Faking Robbery and Kidnapping Incident

The Central East Regional Police Command has apprehended 35-year-old Benjamin Owusu for allegedly staging a robbery and kidnapping incident at Fijai, a suburb of Millennium City in Gomoa Nyanyano, Central Region. According to police reports, Owusu sent a distress message to a friend on September 3, 2025, claiming he was under attack at his home.

Upon receiving the message, the friend alerted the police, who promptly dispatched officers to the scene. However, upon arrival, Owusu was nowhere to be found, despite bloodstains discovered on his bedroom floor. Forensic analysis later revealed that the blood was not human in origin.

Further investigation led police to suspect foul play, particularly after discovering that Owusu had discarded the SIM card used to send the Owusu to send the distress message. The police tracked him down to a hideout in Akatamanso, Ashanti Region, where he was arrested on September 24, 2025.

During interrogation, Owusu confessed to faking the entire incident.
