Ghana Police Rescue Kidnapped Woman in Berekum After Ransom Demand

The Bono Regional Police Command in Ghana has successfully rescued a 30-year-old woman, Millicent Fosua, who was kidnapped in Kyeremasu, a town in the Dormaa East municipality of the Bono Region.

According to a press release from the Ghana Police Service’s Public Affairs Unit, the victim’s husband, businessman Samuel Amartey Laryea, reported the incident to the police after receiving a ransom demand of GHC 12,000 for his wife’s release on November 3, 2025. The kidnappers had taken Millicent on October 29, 2025, while she visited her husband in a house located some distance from her residence.

The police conducted an intelligence-led undercover operation through the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID), leading to the rescue of Millicent in Berekum. She was found in good health and has been handed over to her family.

Details from the victim’s account reveal that she was abducted by suspects in a black Toyota Corolla. She was dragged into the car after one of the suspects covered her mouth with a rag and blindfolded her. During the ordeal, she was subjected to physical abuse, verbal threats of death, had her mobile phone seized, was stripped of her dress, and forced to disclose her husband’s phone number and mobile money PIN.

The police are currently working to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the kidnapping to assist in the ongoing investigation.
