The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers who are also believed to be syndicates in armed robbery attack on the Tamale highway.
They are Ussif Mohammed, 22; Sanda Mohammed, 23 and Umar Mohammed, 23.
At a news conference in Tamale last Wednesday, the Northern Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police (COP) Timothy Bonga Yoosa said the police effected the arrest after an intelligence revealed the intention of the suspects.
He said the suspects were lodging in separate hotels in Tamale and its suburbs in preparation to move to Salaga, Makango, Bimbilla and Wulensi to attack and kidnap people for ransoms when Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Police raided those hotels.
COP Yoosa mentioned that a Machete, one mobile phone and a cash of Gh¢ 1,500, were found on Mohammed Umar while Ussif Mohammed had three mobile phones, a cash of Gh¢1,800 and mobile money amount of Gh¢ 5,239.
He added that that three phones and an amount of Gh¢2,561 was also found on Sanda Mohammed.
According to him, the police investigators retrieved videos and bundles of fifty Ghana cedis notes from the suspects at the time of their arrest, being items believed to have been collected from robbery scenes.
He hinted that the suspects were being arraigned before court at the quickest possible time.
