Nana Agradaa, a self-proclaimed evangelist and founder of Heaven Way Church, has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with hard labor by the Accra Circuit Court for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretenses. The court found her guilty of broadcasting a money-doubling scheme on television in 2022, which deceived numerous individuals into handing over large sums of money.
However, Agradaa’s legal troubles don’t end there. She has multiple pending court cases that could potentially extend her prison term. Some of the notable cases include:
– Case involving Prophet Akwasi Appiah: Agradaa is standing trial for allegedly assaulting Prophet Akwasi Appiah in 2020.
– Indecent materials case: Agradaa was charged under the Cybersecurity Act for distributing intimate images of Prophet Emmanuel Appiah Enim without consent. She was granted bail of GH¢200,000 with two justified sureties.
– Defamation lawsuit by Empress Gifty: Agradaa is facing a GHC 20 million defamation lawsuit from Empress Gifty, whom she allegedly accused of engaging in multiple affairs to fund her lifestyle.
– Other pending cases: Agradaa has three separate cases pending before different circuit courts in Accra, related to charges of defrauding by false pretenses and charlatanic advertisement.
If found guilty in all pending cases, Agradaa’s prison term could be extended, but the exact duration would depend on the court’s decision. The court will consider various factors, including the severity of the offenses, Agradaa’s criminal history, and her behavior during the trial, when determining the sentences.
