Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was denied access to meet with Chairman Wontumi at the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) headquarters due to a breach of agreement, according to government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
Speaking on Oyerepa TV, Kwakye Ofosu revealed that there was a laid-down procedure agreed upon with Dr. Bawumia’s office, which he failed to follow. “There was an agreement that he comes with just a few people, but upon his arrival, he was with a huge number of persons, and that was a breach of the agreement, reason why he could not be allowed to see him,” he explained.
Kwakye Ofosu added that Dr. Bawumia’s actions did not create the right atmosphere for the meeting, as agreed upon with the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) and NIB. “I don’t think Dr. Bawumia going to see him would have made any difference. He did not honour the agreement with EOCO and NIB,” he stated.
The incident has sparked controversy, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding Dr. Bawumia’s visit to the NIB headquarters.
