Ghana’s Cedis appreciation against major foreign currencies

#The Ghanaian cedi has shown significant appreciation against major foreign currencies, as reported by the Bank of Ghana. As of May 21, 2025, the cedi has gained 24.1% against the US dollar, indicating a notable strengthening of the local currency. Additionally, the cedi has appreciated by 16.2% against the British pound and 14.1% against the euro.
This development is expected to have a positive impact on Ghana’s economy, particularly for importers and consumers. The appreciation of the cedi may lead to lower prices for imported goods and services, making them more affordable for Ghanaians. Furthermore, this trend could also boost investor confidence and contribute to overall economic stability. Alexander Afriyie
