More than 40 shops have burnt into shreds at Krofrom near Stones Hospital, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region when fire gutted the Krofrom market last Monday night.
The cost of the lost property to the fire accident is not yet known but estimated to be running to thousands of cedis.
An eye witness told Ghanacrimereport.com that the fire started around 1:30am on Monday from one shop.
But the cause of the fire is not yet known as personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were deployed to the fire scene to bring the inferno under control.
One of the fire victims told Ghanacrimereport.com that, around 1am that Monday, he woke up to urinate outside his house and saw smoke from a distance, tracing from the market area.
He quickly ran to the source of the smoke only to find out that a number of shops were in flames and he has personally lost a cash of 4,800 Ghana cedis.
He then called for help from neighbours, who tried to bring the situation to control but to no avail, expressing shock that for more than 10 times, their phones calls to the Ghana Fire Service did not get any response for the emergency situation.
Police and the Fire Service personnel are investigating the fire incident.
