The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suffered a significant defeat in the 2024 elections, failing to secure any seats in four regions: Volta, Upper West, Upper East, and Oti. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has swept all 53 constituencies in these regions, leaving the NPP with no representation.
The NPP’s performance was equally dismal in five other regions, where they managed to secure only one seat each. These regions include Western North, Ahafo, Bono, Bono East, and Savanna. Out of the 45 constituencies in these regions, the NPP holds only 5 seats, while the NDC has secured 40.
In total, the NPP has only 5 seats out of 98 constituencies in the nine regions where they performed poorly. The NDC, on the other hand, has secured an overwhelming 93 seats in these regions.
The results have raised eyebrows, with some polling stations reporting zero votes for the NPP. In some cases, even the party’s polling agents and executives failed to vote for the NPP.
The NPP’s poor performance has sparked concerns about the party’s strategy and leadership. The party’s officials are expected to hold an emergency meeting to assess the situation and chart a way forward.
The NDC, on the other hand, is celebrating their landslide victory, with party officials hailing it as a testament to their strong grassroots support.
The 2024 election results have sent shockwaves through Ghana’s political landscape, with many analysts predicting a significant shift in the country’s political dynamics. Alexander Afriyie
