Suspected kidnappers in police custody identified by victims

The Deputy Northern Region Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Moses Atibilla has indicated that three suspected kidnappers in police custody have been identified by some of their victims.
Addressing Journalists on the day last Sunday, he said the Regional Police Command got hint that the suspects were lodging in separate hotels in Tamale in preparation to move to Salaga, Makango, Bimbilla and Wulensi to attack and kidnap people for ransoms when Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department raided those hotels.

He further revealed that the suspects had been forcibly charging their victims Gh¢80.00 as ransom from their families before releasing them.
He assured that the police were still investigating the case, and that, the suspects had since been  arraigned before court.
DCOP Atibilla recalled that on the 13th of May 2021, the police arrested three persons suspected to be Kidnappers on intelligence.

The three arrested were Ussif Mohammed, 22; Sanda Mohammed, 23 and Mohammed Umar, 23.

Machete, one mobile phone and a cash of Gh¢ 1,500, were found on Mohammed Umar while Ussif Mohammed had three mobile phones, a cash of Gh¢1,800 and mobile money amount Gh¢ 5,239.

Three phones and an amount of Gh¢2,561 was also found on Sanda Mohammed.
