The suspended Chief Justice, Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkonoo, has formally associated herself with efforts to seek an injunction against the parliamentary committee probing prima facie allegations against her. This development unfolded during a Supreme Court hearing, where her lawyer, Kwabena Kusi, linked her to the submissions of the plaintiffs’ case.
According to Kusi, the basis for their association lies in the argument that there was no prima facie determination before President John Mahama, on the advice of the Council of State, decided to suspend his client. The case is currently being heard by a panel of Justices comprising Baffoe Bonnie, Amadu Tanko, Anthony Kwoffie, Yonni Kulendi, and Asare Darko.
The hearing is ongoing, with the court’s decision expected to have significant implications for the probe into the allegations against the suspended Chief Justice. The development highlights the legal battle unfolding between Torkonoo and the committee probing her. Alexander Afriyie
