Two persons died on the spot when the fuel tanker on which they were travelling nearly collided with an oncoming vehicle at Onyinanumfo in the Ahafo Ano Sout-west district of the Ashanti Region.
The near collision caused the fuel tanker to explode, with both the driver and his mate in the tanker being trapped to death instantly with passengers in the other vehicle sustaining multiple degree of injuries.
One person from the seriously injured passengers later died on admission at the Wioso Government Hospital as of press time.
The accident is yet to be confirmed by the Mankranso District Police Command.
An eye witness who spoke to the ghanacrimereport.com said at around 9pm last Monday, the Ford passenger vehicle which was coming from Tepa and heading towards Kumasi veered off his truck and nearly ran into the gas tanker which was from Kumasi.
The tanker quickly swerved and ran into some stores and drinking bars on the roadside which were all closed at the time.
“If the stores and drinking spots were opened at the time of the accident, we would not have heard more disastrous story”, he grieved.
