Police arrest 2 in Tamale for possessing offensive weapons

The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested two persons for illegally possessing fire arms in the Tamale Metropolis.
The culprits were also arrested in connection to chieftaincy unreast in the Bagliga Dapkemyili area in the Tamale Metropolis.
They are identified as Andani Yakubu Wahid, 30, and Alhaji Adul Salam Abdul Sobo, 30, and were found possessing AK47 assault rifle gun loaded with five cartridges and a bullet proof vest.
Addressing a news conference midday today in Tamale, the Deputy Northern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Moses Asabagna Atibilla disclosed that the suspects were intercepted in a Hundai Santafi 4×4 car with registration number GW 323-16 at Bagliga Dapkemyili.
He further disclosed that the suspects were arrested when police personnel from Tamale deployed to  respond to a chieftaincy crisis in Bagliga-Dapkemyili.
According to him, police preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were recruited by one Alhaji Aminu Ayuba to escort a newly installed chief from Banvum to Bagliga-Dapkemyili.
He said the chief and supporters of Bagliga-Dapkemyili have given a clear indication to resist installation of a new chief in the community.
He added that the said Alhaji Aminu Ayuba has also been arrested to assist police in investigations.
