A Police constable stationed at Gomoa Dominase District Police Command is in critical condition and has been rushed to Gomoa Potsin Polyclinic after was stoned and stabbed with beer bottle.
He attempted to rescue a suspected robber from the hands of a lynching mob when a team of Police officers from Gomoa Dominase went to Gomoa Amoanda to arrest a Motorbike Snatcher who was about to be lynched by an irate mob in the town .
The injured police officer is yet to be identified while responding to treatment.
The incident happened at Gomoa Amoanda in the Gomoa East District in the Central Region.
The police officer collapsed and was rushed for medical treatment .
Eye witness account shows that the suspect believed to be in his late 30’s hired a motor from Gomoa Akotsi to Gomoa Akraman.
Upon reaching a section of the road, the suspect sprayed the rider’s eyes with pepper and took away the motorcycle he snatched.
The rider later called his friends at Gomoa Akraman who gave the suspect a hot Chase and later arrested him at Gomoa Amoanda.
The Dominase Police received a distress call from Gomoa Amoanda concerning the snatching incident of which an irate mob was about to lynch the suspect; compelling the police to rush to the scene to rescue and arrested the suspect from the hands of the mob.
The persons who wanted to lynch the suspect, attacked the police team with stones and beer bottles and in the process, injuring the admitted officer.
The Gomoa East District Police Commander, DSP David Osei Fofie confirmed the story to ghanacrimereport.com
