Grandfather detained for tying six-year-old boy to mango tree over Ghc50

The New Abirim District Police have arrested three persons in connection with tying both hands of a six year old boy with wire cable to the root of a mango tree for allegedly stealing his Ghc50.

According to the New Abirim District Police Commander DSP Peter Ofori Donkor, victim lived with his grandfather Opanyin Amekudzi who is one of the suspects at Akyem Ntronang in the Birim North District.

The grandfather accused the victim of stealing his Ghc50 however the boy denied the allegation.

The grandfather angry and called two other suspects to tie the suspect to a mango tree at around 8:00 am till he was rescued at 5:00 pm by the Police.

He was subsequently taken to the hospital where he was admitted but discharged the next day.

According Mr. Donkor the victim was handed over to his mother while the three suspects were put before court. They have been granted bail to reappear before the court on July, 8, 2021
