Two persons are battling for their lives at the Manhyia Government Hospital in Kumasi after they sustained various degrees of injury during a shooting incident last Tuesday after Eid-ul-adha prayers and celebration at Aboabo Number 2 in the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
One person, 16, lost his life upon arriving the Manhyia Government Hospital, while the two injured are responding to treatment at the same health facility.
Their identities are not yet known as Police are yet to receive formal complaint on the matter as of the time of filing this report.
However, the Assembly Member for Aboabo Number 2 Electoral Area, Yussif Iddrisu who briefed the Ghanacrimereport.com said: “I was told that the youth were jubilating after their prayers and some people were firing gunshots as part of their jubilation”.
“It wasn’t a clash between the youth and there was no misunderstanding between them but as you can see they were happy and decided to jubilate after their prayers”, he added.
He expressed deep condolence to the family that lost one life and wished the injured persons a very speedy recovery.
He said he was collaborating with both the affected families and the police to investigate the matter
